I Thought Wrong
My skin grows clammy. Stomach somersaults. I thought I was ready to unlock that red, beating organ and let you sashay in. But I’m not. In fact, I feel so very calm as I hear the metal bitch-slap of the deadbolt. My ribs vibrate with satisfying chords of joy. I’m free. I levitate.
